This is a good point. This should be added here.
The module name is "speechd-up".

It does. First, there is a list of general requirements. Then there
is a list marked "Only if you are building from CVS, you also need
these".

Yes, it's mostly that. But it also seems you have an old version of
automake, because it complains that some construct regarding
subdirectories isn't supported. Automake 1.7 or newer is required.
