TeX programming is not very easy if you are using it for something
that doesn't fit well into what it was designed for. "TeX by Topic" is
a good guide http://eijkhout.net/texbytopic/texbytopic.html Searching
Google for help doesn't work very well because most of the advice you
get is for people writing LaTeX documents.
I think you are trying to solve a problem that doesn't really exist.
