"Better image" is debatable.  Do you prefer a postage-sized image or one
that's big enough that you can make out what's displayed?

Macos is special in that it upscales images in the worst possible way --
it goes out of its way to blur as much as possible, giving you horrible
images.  Upscaling on other systems don't suffer from this problem to
the same degree -- in X, for instance, there's no blurring.
