Because it's intended that arch-id: be able to represent anything that
arch-tag: could (so easy upgrade is possible), and arch-tag: ids can
contain ".

Well, yes, but arch-tag: support isn't going away anytime soon; maybe it
would be good to make a sane decision about what characters to allow in
tags.  The fewer wierd things allowed, the better.
