Even if technically possible, it would not solve your problem, you
still have the frightening massive delete/add issue on the branch. In
fact it would create more problems, e.g. merging between the two
branches (mkpatch/dopath handle {arch}/=tagging-method as any other
file) would probably become a delicate operation.

Probably not a good idea, look in the mailing-list archive for intense
threads about tagging method preferences. Choose one and defenders of
the others will find you one day or another ;)
