The pdf conversion worked for me (but my test machine does not have
asian fonts installed), could you try running gs from the console
catching the error message from it?

If you add the --verbose option to the lilypond command:

   ..\lilypond.exe" --verbose

you should get to see the gs command that you need .

Yes, viewing the .ps won't work.

Ah, that may be the difference.  Where do I get Chinese fonts to test
with?

Yes, we'll have to see what to do with the python scripts on windows.
