Yes, I've seen your talks, and am happy to see an enthused bearer of the
torch.

My criticism is that speaking in generalities as you do above is
unproductive.  I think if you actually got down to the business of making the
changes you propose (Rust conversion, first-class HTML rendering, Slack
integration, etc.), you would quickly pare your wishlist down to more 
incremental outcomes.

A prima fascie glance would suggest emacs's mindshare has been on the wane for
years.  But for those in-the-know, the editor remains the most efficient means 
of
getting things done.  Its continued success doesn't require the most young
developers, just the most sensible ones.
