Agreed.

(But as I pointed out, there are 3rd-party libraries
and 3rd-party libraries.  A well-known, heavily used
library is different in this regard from a small
shared user library.  The potential problem is there
for 2 or more large, heavily-used libraries to have
conflicting bindings.  But I too don't see even that
as much of a problem, in practice.  The problem of
trying to compete with Emacs default bindings is a
much bigger, more real problem - it's the problem at
the heart of this thread, IMO.)
