I'd love to hear about this, too, or more: what about providing
binaries for OS-X for the next release again? I'd like to see that,
because my fluid~ Pd-external also should compile for Max/MSP on OS-X.

While compiling the external on OS-X in general is easy (although I
never did that...), comiling fluidsynth has resulted in several mails
from Max-users in my mailbox. And as I only run Linux, I'm not a big
help for them...
