Bob,

We've had discussions back and forth on settling on a cross-platform (and
internationalizable) Ruby UI framework. Unfortunately, such a beast (as
yet) does not fully exist. We are striving to create sufficient
abstractions to enable switching out UI frameworks (if any language could do
this well, its Ruby). For example, I believe we have settled on Fox for
starters, but Fox does not run under Mac OS/X. If we want the FreeRIDE
system to operate there we may need to support an alternative UI framework
that runs on that platform.

I would like it if the Feel of FreeRIDE was the same regardless of the Look.
This is not to say that having a FreeRIDE look would not be something to
puruse, I think we should, but we have to prioritize on stuff...so...

Getting back to the icon issue, though, I think every UI toolkit lets you
define your own toolbar icons, etc. I really like th KDE set. I think as
we understand the needs of the UI implementation in FreeRIDE we will better
be able to determine which icons are needed.
