It looks like baz' UI changes tried to make things _look_ simpler:

  changes           -> status
  changes --diffs   -> diff
  tag -S            -> branch
  star-merge        -> merge
  tree-lint         -> lint

Of these, the two first clearly aim at CVS/Svn-friendliness.
