For the add operation, I very much dislike it.

Especially when it automatically adds files that I don't want it to
add. I am not sure if monotone will blindly add *.bak files (like
another system I have used does), but in any case I think it is much
easier to recover from "accidently not using recursive when you wanted
it" to "accidently using recursive when you only want to add one
directory".

As such, I think non-recursive should be the default.
