I connected a 5k1 from E to gnd. There seems to be an improvement- no garbage, but the display shifts right or left randomly once in a while. Also funny characters briefly appear on the LCD.
I'm using my LCD in 4 bit mode- is this mode more susceptible to noise?I think I'll try adding 10n (or less) capacitors from each of the LCD pins to gnd. Any comments on this would be helpful..
