I think in theory this should work fine.

Also in theory, it should be possible to construct a situation where
an import/commit/import sequence confuses monotone's heuristics and
gives different results in the next import.  I imagine this is pretty
unlikely to happen in practice.  Offhand it doesn't seem like the
consequences would be dire.
